Despite a few hiccups at the closing moments of the match, Gazi Group Cricketers made home with a comfortable win with 6 wickets and 27 balls to spare.

Kalabagan Krira Chakra were invited to bat first by Gazi Group Cricketers’ skipper Alok Kapali. Shadman and Jashimuddin started off well, both picking up some quick runs initially. After both got dismissed inside the first 15 overs, Masakadza and Tasamul took charge and added 59 runs between them. Masakadza’s departure slowed the scoring rate down and that’s when pressure started to build up on Kalabagan.

Mehrab Hossain Jnr could not contribute much today and Tasamul fell short of his fifty by 3 runs. Tanveer Haider added some vital 26 runs, but what was more vital was Abdur Razzzak’s 18-ball 30 at the end of the innings. His 3 sixes added the momentum to the scores, and took it past 200, which at one point seemed unachievable.

Kalabagan Krira Chakra made 223 and was all out 8 balls before the end of overs. Alok Kapali took 3 wickets, while Saeed and Moinul bagged two wickets each for their side.

Coming out to chase an achievable target, the start for Gazi Group was great. They had 11 from the first over, then went on to take another 11 runs from the second over. This set the batsmen up in the middle and then there was no turning back. The opening stand produced 155 runs, before Anamul Haque had to leave the field, cramped.

Anamul was playing well and looked to score yet another hundred. He was connecting the ball well from the middle of his bat and was scoring quickly. So was Shamsur Rahman as he picked up his fifty too in quick time. Both showed fours from their bats and chose the aerial route once each. Anamul was retired hurt at 70 and Shamsur Rahman was out to Mashrafe as the first wicket of Gazi Group for 75.

Some pressure looked to build up as GGC continued the chase. They lost three more wickets in quick time, but the platform that was set by Anamul and Shamsur as good enough to take on the target and cross it eventually. Mashrafe bagged 2 wickets and finished with bowling figures of 10-0-43-2. Abdur Razzak bowled well to bag a wicket and was economic as well, 10-0-30-1.

Shamsur Rahman was adjudged the Player of the Match for his match winning knock of 75 runs.
